I said I would write a follow-up on whether SwagBucks was working for me and this is it. To date I've earned $15 via PayPal by using the SwagBucks site. There are a few things to be aware of, however, if you are looking to try SwagBucks to earn some extra cash and items via SwagBucks (aka SB, the SwagBucks currency).
1. Earning SB via searching (or any other way on the site) is NOT fast. Unless, of course, you're an internet searching fiend! I thought I was one, but it turns out that I'm a mere amateur. If internet searching is something you do anyway, every day, several times a day then searching through SwagBucks will help you earn enough SB to get a nice gift/prize. 2. SwagTV is pretty informative. If you have time to sit at your computer and watch videos, SwagTV isn't a bad option for earning SwagBucks. The "shows" are short, for the most part, and pretty informative. The only downside is you have to watch quite a few "videos" to earn very few SB. Again, if you have the time and want to relax watching SwagTV, it can work nicely. 3. Tasks are a good way to earn more SB. The downside is you have to be very, very detail-oriented, have good time management skills and be aware that even with those skills you might not meet the accuracy level the tasks demand and not be allowed to complete them (thus earning no SwagBucks). 4. In my experience, the Special Offers section is basically "clicker BEWARE." Some are very innocent and only involve safe FaceBook app installs, game registrations and play, newsletter registrations and the like. Some others, however, will throw you on the mail list of advertisers you've never heard of and probably don't want to hear from. Before you choose this option, my suggestion is to create an email address specifically for SwagBucks so your real life email address does not get inundated with spam. Also, be very careful of which offers you give your very important real life information to, like phone number and real mailing address. I'm NOT saying they're unscrupulous. And, I'm NOT suggesting that you lie. I AM suggesting that maybe you won't want some offer sponsors to call you on the phone at work or home or know where you live--some aren't worth it. As with anything else internet related, be careful. 5. Games. If you like to play games, SwagBucks has a whole game section and to earn SwagBucks all you have to do is play games. This also it a bit slow-going, but it can be fun. 6. Coupons. Each coupon you print and redeem from SwagBucks earns you 10 SB. I use coupons all the time while grocery shopping. Not only can using their coupons save you money, you can earn SB too. Above, I've only named a few ways to earn SB. There are also Sweepstakes to earn SB and prizes, there are special codes to be found on the SwagBucks Twitter feed and blog that will get you some SB and there are polls and trivia contests too. All-in-all, I'm very happy with my SwagBucks membership. After all, $15 via PayPal cash for doing what I would be normally doing anyway is nothing to sneeze at. This is why, with the above caveats, I can recommend SwagBucks. If you are going to spend most of your time online searching and surfing the internet, playing games and printing out coupons then you'll have a good time using the SwagBucks site. As with anything else, keep in mind that SwagBucks is no get rich quick scheme. As long as you remember that, SwagBucks can be a fun site to spend your time on.
